Flexibele lichtgewicht zonnepanelen op kantoor in Utrecht
Op het dak van kantoorlocatie Hojel 2 in Utrecht, gelegen tegenover Utrecht CS en naast het Jaarbeurscomplex, zijn lichtgewicht flexibele zonnepanelen geplaatst. Volgens PV-producent Hanergy Europe en uitvoerder Sunprojects betekent dit een primeur in Europa.
Op het metalen dak van Hojel 2 was het vanwege het gewicht met standaard zonnepanelen eerder niet mogelijk een zonnestroomproject te realiseren. Met de lichtgewicht dunne film-zonnepanelen van Hanergy is dit wel mogelijk. Hanergy is leverancier van dunne film-zonnepanelen en tevens de grootste private duurzame energieproducent van China. De flexibele zonnepanelen voor het project zijn geleverd door MiaSolé, een Amerikaanse dochteronderneming van Hanergy met haar oorsprong in Silicon Valley. Deze zonnepanelen wegen slechts 4 tot 6 kg per vierkante meter, daar waar reguliere zonnepanelen doorgaans 16 tot 20 kg per vierkante meter wegen.
