Innovatie haalt groene stroom uit restjes aardwarmte

De Nederlandse adviseur van bodemenergieprojecten IF Technology en het Zweedse Climeon, leverancier van innovatieve technologie, lanceren een systeem dat heet water uit de bodem omzet in elektriciteit. Hiermee kan aardwarmte altijd worden benut, ook als de vraag naar warmte lager is, zoals in de zomer.

Het Engelstalig persbericht doet nogal ronkend aan met de term ‘groundbreaking technology’, want het apparaat dat Climeon en IF Technology op de markt brengen lijkt niet meer dan een doos ter grootte van een kleine kamer: 2,25 meter hoog, 2 meter breed en 2 meter diep. Toch kan het systeem aardwarmte in de vorm van heet water op een veilige manier omzetten in honderd procent duurzame elektriciteit. Voor de werking van het apparaat zijn geen brandstoffen of specifieke weersomstandigheden nodig. Volgens Climeon vormt het systeem een ‘significante stap vooruit in het realiseren van de ambities uit het klimaatakkoord van Parijs’.
